Second Montenegro Summer School for Young Diplomats “Gavro Vuković”, Berane and Kolašin, 21-24 July 2009.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro with the support of UNDP’s Capacity Development Programme (CDP) organized the second Montenegro Summer School for Young Diplomats “Gavro Vuković” that started on 21 July 2009.
The tradition continued this year with the official opening ceremony in Berane, at the Memorial House of the outstanding Montenegrin Minister of Foreign Affairs Duke Gavro Vuković after whom this School was named.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen emphasized that the organisation of the school for young diplomats is yet another proof of contemporary Montenegrin commitment to fostering good neighbourly policy and regional cooperation. The School has been devoted to possibilities and challenges the Western Balkan countries are faced with in European and Euro-Atlantic integration and it has been an excellent opportunity to exchange opinions and ideas regarding the current issues and processes in the region and to strengthen the dialogue among young diplomats...

Respected President of the Municipality Berane, Respected Ambassador Avanessov, Respected participants of the Montenegrin Summer School for Young Diplomats, Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,
I wish to extend to you a cordial greeting. Welcome to Berane, welcome to Montenegro. I have the privilege of opening - in this temple of Montenegrin diplomacy, home of its establisher duke Gavro Vuković, long- term minister of foreign affairs of the Principality of Montenegro - the Second Montenegrin School for Young Diplomats that carries his name, for the young diplomats from the region and EU countries...

I am very happy to welcome all of you here, and of course the Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and through you, especially the Minister Rocen who was the initiator of this endeavor.

I am very happy to express the view of the UNDP that we are very delighted to be a part of this initiative. It is part of our work, it is part of our Capacity Development Programme, and this is also part of our intention and some activities in promotion of regional cooperation.

As I can see, students are in good shape and probably have fully enjoyed the school, and lectures and discussions. The programme was very interesting, it covered a wide range of interesting issues, topics, and most importantly it was covered by those who are practically involved and who are dealing with these issues (ambassadors and representatives of international institutions present in Montenegro).
