Montenegro became 56th member of UNECE, on 28 June, 2006, following the membership to UN. UNECE activities are focused on following fields: economic cooperation and integration, energy, environment, demographic development and statistics, trade and transport. Montenegro is mainly active in UNECE within its Committee for Environmental Policy. Representatives of the Ministry of Tourism and Environment participate in the activities of the Bureau of the Committee for Environmental Policy since June 2008.
