UNDP is present in Montenegro for number of years already. The Basic Agreement on cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and UNDP was signed on December 15, 2006 which defined conditions for the cooperation and support of the UNDP and other agencies providing support to development projects of the Government of Montenegro which includes advisory services, expert support through seminars, training programs, work groups and concrete development projects.
The UNDP programs in Montenegro comprise joint activities and support in the field of the social inclusion, institutional reforms and reforms of the justice system, sustainable economic development and environment protection. Ministry of Foreign Affairs together in a cooperation with relevant institutions and UNDP, drafted Action plan for implementation of the Country Program between the Government of Montenegro and UNDP 2007 – 2011 which was signed, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen and Resident representative of the UNDP in Montenegro, Aleksandar Avanesov, in Podgorica on September 10, 2008. The agreement includes various cooporation projects in the fields of the social inclusion of marginalized grups groups and poverty reduction, development of the public administration capacity, energy capacity, protection of environment and sustainable economic development. |
