The Basic Cooperation Agreement between the Government of Montenegro and UNHCR was signed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Milan Roćen and the director of UNHCR for Europe, Pirko Kurola on 15 December, 2006 in Podgorica. Following the procedure required for acquiring of full membership of Montenegro in the UNHCR Executive Committee by the decision of the UN Economic and Social Council at the meeting held on April 29, 2008 Montenegro was accepted in the membership of the UNHCR Executive Committee. Delegation of Montenegro participated at the 59th session of the UNHCR Executive Committee in Geneva, from 6 – 10 October, 2008.
