A meeting of the heads of consular departments of the South East European Co-operation Process (SEECP) was organised today in Podgorica by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, as part of the Montenegrin presidency of this regional initiative.
It gathered representatives of SEECP member-states (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Turkey), as well as the representatives of the Migration, Asylum, Refugees Regional Initiative (MARRI) and the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC).
The participants discussed visa policies of SEECP member-states and the possibilities for their improvement, as well as mutual representation in consular affairs in third states. It was concluded that the cooperation between SEECP countries is very good, but that there was space and willingness of all participants for its improvement through mutual representation in third countries, especially in situations of natural disasters. The participants were unanimous in assessing Montenegri presidency of SEECP as very successful, including the organisation of today's meeting, and they concluded that it was of great importance to intensify further cooperation, with special emphasis on the Acquis chapter "Justice, Freedom and Security," to which a special attention will be paid in the coming period. |
