The second meeting of the political directors of the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP) under Montenegro's chairmanship was held today in Bečići (Budva).
The meeting was presided by Ambassador Veselin Šuković, Acting Director General for multilateral affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. Ambassador Šuković informed the attendants about the meetings held thus far, as well as about the activities planned under Montenegro's chairmanship. The attendants exchanged opinions on the current political moment in the region and the progress in European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the member-states of this important process of regional cooperation coordination. It was reiterated that Montenegro will, during its one-year chairmanship over the SEECP, work towards further development of democratic values and the promotion of European standards as a backbone of the regional development and cooperation of the SEECP member-states. Montenegro's chairmanship will focus on further development of the project-oriented cooperation through the regional framework of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC) and the maintenance of the long-term stability and dynamic development of the states of the region and the region as a whole. It was unanimously assessed that Montenegro has thus far proven itself a reliable and constructive coordinator of the SEECP activities, and that it is resolutely determined to be recognised, through the achievement of the foreign-policy priorities embodied in regional cooperation, as a country that contributes to the development of cooperation, strengthening of mutual trust and joint action of the SEECP member-states in ensuring stability and prosperity of the region. |
