Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vesko Garčević attends regular ministerial meeting of the Baltic Charter and the Adriatic Charter in Riga, Latvia on March 23 and 24. The meeting comprises Foreign Ministers of the Baltic and Adriatic charters member-countries – Estonia, Latvia, Litvania, Albania, Bosnia and Hezegovina, Croatia, and Macedonia, and representatives of the USA. This is the first time Montenegro attends these regular meetings of the two regional organisations as a full member of the Adriatic Charter. During the two-day meeting it was higlighted once again that without the full Euro-Atlantic integration of the Western Balkans the process of uniting and stabilising Europe cannot be complete. In this context, content with Albania and Croatia joining the NATO as full members at the following Summits in Strasbourg and Kehl was highlighted; as well as expectations that Macedonia will soon be invited to join the Alliance. The Ministers also commended advancement Montengro and Bosnia and Hezegovina made on enforcing Partnership for Peace programme. During the meeting, the course of preparation for organising the following Summit of NATO, when the Alliance celebrates 60 years of presence, were discussed; as well as actual global political issues. Once again, the importance of exchanging knowledges and holding regular meetings of Baltic and Adriatic charters was emphasized. During the meeting, joint press statement was adopted. At the margins of the meeting, Garčević had bilateral consultations with Deputy Assistant to the State Secretary of USA for Europe, Stewart Jones, as well as meetings with chiefs of delegations of other participating states. |
