Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen received in a farewell visit the Ambassador of the USA, Roderick Moore.

Minister Roćen thanked Ambassador Moore for the extraordinary contribution to the enhancement of bilateral relations and emphasised his important role in building an open and constructive partnership and friendly relations between Montenegro and the USA. He reiterated that the key foreign policy priorities of Montenegro are the membership in NATO and the EU. In this context he conveyed the expectation that the USA will continue to support the reforms and keep Montenegro and the countries of the region in its focus, which will be an additional incentive in the achievement of these strategic goals.

Ambassador Moore said that he was very content with the level of the overall relations between the two countries. He assessed that Montenegro does not have any insurmountable challenges and pointed to the importance of the continued reforms, emphasising his optimism regarding Montenegro’s future and his firm beliefs in its further progress.  During the exchange of opinions on the current events in the region, Ambassador Moore underlined the advantages of Montenegro, starting with the fact that it does not have any open questions of greater importance, adding that the solution of the existing issues lies solely in Montenegro’s hands.

They agreed that, in parallel with creating the legal basis, it is necessary to intensify the activities in the strengthening of economic ties and attracting American investments in the forthcoming period.

Minister Roćen wished success to Ambassador Moore in his future endeavours expressing content over his further professional engagement in the region.
