Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met today with Charles Tannock, member of the European Parliament and a rapporteur for Montenegro.

Minister Roćen said the cooperation with the European Parliament, as well as with other EU institutions, was of the immense importance for Montenegro and its further progress towards the EU, especially with regard to its efforts for strengthening democratic capacities, institutions and administration.

He stressed that Montenegro remained committed to achieving its European and Euro-Atlantic perspective, which represents the best guarantee for the permanent stability of the region, in cooperation with its neighbors and other partners. In this context, Roćen informed Tannock about the Government’s activities regarding the implementation of the strategic foreign policy goals, as well as about the concrete results achieved in this process – handing over of the responses to the EC Questionnaire, successful completion of the visa liberalization process and invitation to join the MAP.

Tannock said Montenegro was very successful in carrying out reforms since independence, as well as in fulfilling its European and Euro-Atlantic goals. He said that, as a rapporteur for Montenegro, he would support our country in these processes.

Minister Roćen thanked Tannock for his efforts for speeding up the ratification process of the Montenegro’s Stabilisation and Association Agreement in the British Parlament.

Roćen  and Tannock also discussed current developments in the region.
