Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey Emina Birgen Kesoglu.

Minister Roćen congratulated Kesoglu on her recent appointment as Ambassador of Turkey to Montenegro and expressed his appreciation for dynamic bilateral and multilateral cooperation and intensive political contacts between the two countries. He particularly stressed the importance of the forthcoming visit of the President Abdullah Gul, with a delegation of Turkish businessmen, which would reaffirm the upward trend in the relations between Montenegro and Turkey, and give a strong impetus to further cooperation, particularly in the sphere of economy. Ambassador Kesoglu said the numerous delegation of businessmen that would visit Montenegro was indicative of the immense importance that Turkey attached to strengthening cooperation with Montenegro. The imminent opening of Montenegrin Embassy in Ankara would also contribute to this end, the interlocutors agreed.

Roćen and Kesoglu said both sides deemed very important cooperation and exchange of experience regarding their involvement in regional initiatives, especially in the South-East European Cooperation Process, pending the Montenegrin SEECP Presidency, which Montenegro would take over from Turkey. In that context, Ambassador Kesouglu said Turkey recognized Montenegro’s important and constructive role in the region, and fully supported Montenegro’s efforts on its path towards European and Euro-Atlantic integrations. Minister Roćen thanked Turkey for its strong support in these processes.
