Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met today with the Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal Luis de Almeida Sampaio, and a delegation of Portuguese businessmen.

Ambassador Sampaio commended Montenegrin Government for its progress in implementing reforms and European and Euro-Atlantic goals, which, he said, Portugal fully supported. Sampaio said such progress made Montenegro increasingly attractive to foreign investors, and that Portuguese businessmen were interested in investing in the fields of transportation, infrastructure, and tourism. He also pointed out Portugal's interest for strengthening contacts between the two peoples though joint cultural projects. Roćen and Sampaio agreed the existing cooperation between Montenegro and Portugal, and the high-level political contacts, provided a solid basis for the advancement of the overall relations.

Minister Roćen thanked the Government of Portugal for its continuous support provided to Montenegro on its path towards achieving its strategic goals, and underlined that European and Euro-Atlantic integrations provided best guarantee for durable security, which would make Montenegro and the entire region even more attractive to foreign investors. He also informed the Ambassador about internal economic situation, plans for the implementation of major infrastructural projects and current activities related to foreign policy objectives.
