Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Milan Roćen met today with the delegation of the Parliament of the Kingdom of Belgium, headed by the President of the Belgium Chamber of Representatives, Patrick Deweal.

Minister Roćen underlined the importance of this visit for strengthening bilateral cooperation of Montenegro and Belgium though parliamentary channels, which was particularly relevant in the light of Montenegro’s efforts for strengthening democratic capacities and state institutions, as well as for its further progress towards the EU and NATO. Minister reiterated that Montenegro remained fully committed to the implementation of internal reforms, and to the development of regional ties and cooperation with its neighbors.

Roćen and Deweal agreed the two countries had intensive bilateral and multilateral cooperation, and underlined mutual interest for its further development. Deweal pointed out that Montenegro’s internal stability, as well as its favorable position in the regional, were particularly conducive for developing future cooperation. Deweal said the future of Montenegro and all the countries of the Western Balkans was in the EU, and underlined Belgium’s readiness to fully support their efforts to this end, especially during its EU Presidency in the second half of 2010.
