Milan Roćen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro met today with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Jakov Gerasimov and members of the working teams of the Intergovernmental Montenegrin-Russian Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Committee, in a run-up to the Committee’s third session to be held on October 23 in Montenegro. Minister Roćen and Ambassador Gerasimov said the Committee hugely contributed to the strengthening of the overall bilateral cooperation of the two friendly countries, and expressed hope that the forthcoming session would contribute to resolving a number of issues of a mutual concern, primarily, the former USSR’s debt related to Montenegro. They discussed possibilities for increasing trade through further harmonization of the Protocol on Free Trade Agreement Implementation, by boosting Russian investments in Montenegro, especially in the field of energy and tourism, as well as by improving cooperation in culture, science, technology and education. Among others, these will be the topics to be discussed at the third session of the Committee. During his visit to Montenegro, the cochairman of the Russian part of the Committee, minister for extraordinary situations Sergei Shoigy will have separate bilateral meetings with Montenegrin high officials.
