Milan Roćen, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro met today with the British Ambassador Kevin Lyne. Minister Roćen and Ambassador Lyne expressed their satisfaction over the positive result of the Irish referendum on the Lisbon Treaty and agreed such an outcome would contribute to more efficient functioning of the EU and its institutions, as well as to more effective implementation of the EU Enlargement Policy. In a run-up to the NATO Ministerial Conference in December, special attention was given to Montenegro’s efforts in the process of the Euro-Atlantic integrations. Ambassador Lyne said the UK was strongly committed to the NATO’s open door policy, and that it supported Montenegro’s aspirations for joining MAP. He pointed out that the UK recognized progress achieved by Montenegro in this process, especially in the defense sector, as well as its readiness to contribute to NATO’s peacekeeping operations. Minister Roćen reiterated the Government’s commitment to its European and Euro-Atlantic strategic goals, which were of the immense importance for stability and prosperity of all the Western Balkan countries. Roćen and Lyne also exchanged views on current developments in the region.
