MOSCOW: Bilateral political consultations between the representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation

Bilateral political consultations between the representatives of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation were held in Moscow on 23 and 24 July 2009.

Montenegrin delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister for Bilateral Relations Dr Irena Radovic who called on Deputy Foreign Minister of Russian Federation Mr Vladimir Gennadievich Titov and on Deputy Director of the Forth European Department Mr Leonid Gregorievich Abramov.

Both sides assessed the quality of bilateral relations, intensity of political contacts at the highest level, and intensified co-operation of the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs in the light of Consultation Plan for 2009/10 positively. Mutual belief was expressed that excellent bilateral relations will be further enhanced in the common interest of two friendly nations and countries, especially in the field of economy, tourism, energy, culture and education. It was noted with great pleasure, that in the condition of global financial and economic crisis, the interest of Russian tourists and investors in Montenegro hasn’t weakened. Additional modalities for intensifying economic cooperation were further discussed in the context of preparations for the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Montenegrin-Russian Committee for trade, economic and scientific-technical cooperation which will take place in Montenegro by the end of this year.

Both side greeted activities undertaken as regards efficient implementation of the Agreement on Regulation of Mutual Financial Claims between the Russian Federation and Montenegro and progress made in defining the list of goods which will be included in the Free Trade Agreement between Montenegro and Russian Federation.

Delegations also exchanged views on current developments on the international scene.
