Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen met today with the Secretary General of OSCE Marc Perrin de Brichambaut.

Brichambaut said Montenegro made a significant progress in a very short period of time and underlined the importance of its role as a regional stability factor. Minister Roćen and Brichambaut expressed satisfaction with mutual cooperation, which, as they pointed out, greatly contributed to strengthening Montenegro’s democratic capacities, and efficient implementation of comprehensive reforms in all relevant fields, such as the rule of law, fight against corruption, destruction of surplus arms, and strengthening of the civil sector. They also underlined the important role of ODIHR in securing legal and other preconditions for transparent and democratic elections in Montenegro.

Minister Rocen said that it was exactly because of this significant contribution of OSCE to Montenegro’s internal development that the Government attached such an importance to cooperating with this Organization. He pointed out that the Government recognized OSCE as a partner whose involvement provided an impulse to Montenegro’s dynamic progress towards the EU and NATO, as well as to regional cooperation. In this context, the interlocutors discussed the possibilities of jointly working on addressing issues of regional interest.

Rocen and Brichamaut exchanged views on current regional developments.

The meeting was attended by Dragana Radulovic, the Ambassador of Montenegro to OSCE and Paraskeva Badescu, Head of OSCE Mission to Montenegro.
