Milan Rocen, Minister of foreign Affairs of Montenegro met today with Leopold Maurer, Head of the Delegation of European Commission in Montenegro, ahead of the visit of Olli Rehn, Commission for EU enlargement, and other forthcoming meetings with European high officials.

Minister Rocen and Maurer agreed that the visit of Commissioner Rehn to Montenegro, on which occasion he would hand over the European Commission Questioner, represented an important step forward on Montenegro’s way towards joining the EU.

Minister Rocen reiterated the Government’s strong commitment to fulfilling its obligations set in the Road Map, and pointed out the importance of prompt implementation of visa liberalization for all citizens of the Western Balkans.

Rocen and Maurer also discussed the role of Montenegro as a stability factor in the region, and in this context, they stressed the importance of the fact that Montenegro would be chairing several regional initiatives in the forthcoming period for tackling certain regional issues.

The interlocutors also exchanged views on current regional developments.
