Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Bilateral Relations dr Irena Radović received today the Director of the Department for Southeast Europe in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, Charalampos Dimitriou.
Deputy Minister Radović expressed content with the level of bilateral relations and pointed to the potentials of further strengthening the cooperation, especially in the economic realm, to which the exchange of visits on the high level will significantly contribute.
Radović acquainted her collocutor with the internal situation in Montenegro, foreign policy activities, and she underlined the progress Montenegro has achieved in the process of integration into European and Euro-Atlantic structures. She pointed to the devotion of the Government to strengthening the good neighbourly relations and regional stability. Special emphasis was put on the numerous possibilities of further enhancement of the cooperation in regional initiatives, especially Southeast European Cooperation (SEECP) and Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII), both which will be presided over by Montenegro in 2010.
Director Dimitriou congratulated on the notable results achieved in the processes of European and Euro-Atlantic integrations, as well as on the level of regional cooperation. He underlined that Greece will continue to support Montenegro in the pursuit of its strategic goals. He stressed the need to enhance economic cooperation, as well as to connect the business circles of Montenegro and Greece.
The collocutors asserted the readiness of the two sides for the strengthening of the legal basis in the context of finalising of the Agreement on double taxation, in the promotion and protection of investment, and in the areas of road and air traffic, which will contribute to the strengthening of the ties between two traditionally friendly countries.
