(Podgorica, June 30) At the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on the occasion of the joint address to the media of the Ambassador of Germany and the Ambassador of the United Kingdom in which they condemned the attack on the two boys at the playground in Zagorič, Political Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vesko Garčević had a conversation with the Ambassador of Germany, Peter Plate, and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the United Kingdom, Lian Stevens. Mister Garčević familiarised his collocutors with the facts related to the incident and the action that was taken by the Montenegrin police, surprised that the representatives of these two countries did not, in accordance with good diplomatic practice, ask appropriate state organs of Montenegro for the additional information on the matter. Without questioning the good intentions of the two Ambassadors he said that these intentions ought to have been expressed in a more customary way, in compliance with the usual diplomatic practice in order to avoid negative effects in processing the specific case. Mister Garčević said, amongst other things, that Ministry of Foreign Affairs remain to be fully open for cooperation with the Embassies of Germany and the United Kingdom on the bases of mutual trust and respect, which are important for the ties and relations Montenegro fosters with these two important European countries. At the end of the conversation, Ambassador Plate and Charge d’Affaires Stevens said that they will inform in detail their respective Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the course and contents of the meeting. |
