Permanent representatives of Montenegro and the Republic of Nauru to the United Nations in New York, Ambassadors Milorad Šćepanović and Marlene Moses, signed on January 25, 2011, the Protocol on Establishment of Diplomatic Relations at the ambassadorial level between the two countries. Both sides voiced pleasure at this act which will serve as an incentive to the strengthening of bilateral relations, understanding and solidarity. The Ambassadors agreed that it is very important to intensify the cooperation between small states at multilateral level, especially within the UN, in the light of responding to global threats, especially climate change.
