Press release: Bilateral political consultations between the MFA of Montenegro and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Austria in the context of implementation of the Protocol on Cooperation

First bilateral political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Austria in the context of implementation of the Protocol on Cooperation between the two Ministries from 2007 was held in Vienna, on July 23, 2010.

Montenegrin delegation was led by the Deputy Minister for Bilateral Relations, Dr Irena Radović, and the Austrian delegation was led by  the Secretary General of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hans Kyrle.

Deputy Minister Radović also had bilateral meetings with the Political Director of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Austria, Stefan Lehne, and the Director of the Department for EU Enlargement, Johannes Eigner.

They agreed that the bilateral cooperation is advancing steadily and that the upcoming visits at the highest level will further encourage already excellent political and economic relations between Montenegro and the Republic of Austria. They complimented Montenegro on its role in and dedication to the strengthening of neighbourly cooperation and the achieved progress regarding the European integration in the light of the expected positive opinion of the EC. They reiterated the strong support of the Government of Austria to the Montenegro’s and other WB countries’ European future and reaffirmed the opinion that every country should progress in accordance with the individual results in the process of implementation of the European standards. Both sides expressed the interest for further partnership strengthening and the development of cooperation in the field of economics, culture, education and science.

The collocutors also exchanged opinions on current processes in the Western Balkans.
