Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen spoke today at the OSCE Meeting in Almaty which brought together Ministers of Foreign Affairs of OSCE Member-States, partner countries and the representatives of international organisations. The meeting was opened by the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbajev. The participants exchanged opinions on the progress so far and on the future perspective of the Corfu process, ways to enhance the dialogue on common Euro-Atlantic and Euro-Asian security and the challenges currently facing the Organisation, especially in the context of regional conflicts. At the Meeting it was agreed that the next OSCE Summit, the first one after eleven years, will take place by the end of the year.
Minister Roćen also had separate meetings with the Secretary of State for Foreign and Political Affairs of San Marino, Antonella Mularoni, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Gregory Vashadze and Estonia, Urmas Paet. Minister Roćen and Minister Mularoni jointly expressed willingness for further development of economic and cultural relations between the two countries. Minister Roćen said that he expects the upcoming visit of Minister Mularoni to Montenegro will contribute to dynamising bilateral relations to mutual benefit. He emphasised the importance of exchanging knowledge and experience between countries with small administrations regarding their functionality and achievement of strategic goals.
Estonian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Urmas Paet expressed his Government’s readiness Government to continue to support Montenegro in the process of rapprochement with the EU and NATO. He spoke very highly about Montenegro’s progress thus far and emphasised that Estonia will intensify cooperation with Montenegro in the upcoming integration phases in order to share its experiences with our administration.
During his talk with Minister Vashadze, Minister Roćen discussed possibilities for the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries. To that end, Minister Vashadze invited Minister Roćen to visit Georgia by the end of this year.
Minister Roćen also had a number of informal meetings with the heads of delegations of countries of the region, other participating countries and representatives of the EU, NATO and OSCE.
