Press release: Permanent Rrepresentative of Montenegro to the United Nations, Ambassador Milorad Šćepanović, presented his credentials to the UN Secretary-General

In a short conversation Ambassador Šćepanović expressed content with his appointment as the Permanent Representative of Montenegro to the United Nations and said that this organisation is, along with EU and NATO, one of the most important foreign policy priorities of Montenegro. He also said that the UN, as the place of birth of the modern multilateralism, represents a convenient environment for the small countries as Montenegro to achieve various vital interests.

Ambassador Šćepanović informed the Secretary-General of preparations and the adoption of the Integrated Programme ‘One UN’ in the context of the implementation of the ‘Delivering as One’ project, for which the selection of projects that will receive financial means .s being undertaken. He also familiarised his collocutor of the preparations for the participation of the Montenegrin delegation on the following Summit dedicated to the Millennium development goals and the general debate of the 65th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Ambassador Šćepanović conveyed the invitation of the high officials of Montenegro to the Secretary-General to visit Montenegro.

Secretary General wished Ambassador Šćepanovic a successful mission and expressed willingness to continue good and constructive cooperation between Montenegro and the United Nations. He also greeted the progress of Montenegro in meeting the obligations derived from the membership in the United Nations and said that he expects its further contribution to the important activities of the United Nations.
