Head of the permanent mission of Montenegro to the EU, Ambassador Aleksandar Andrija Pejović, handed his credentials today to the President of the EC, José Manuel Barroso. During the conversation, Ambassador Pejović explained the results Montenegro achieved in the four years after renewing independence. He emphasised Montenegro’s activities in the context of the EC Avis preparation and underlined the fact that Montenegro has become an associated member of the EU with the Stabilisation and Association Agreement entering into force on May 1, 2010 when Montenegro entered a more demanding phase in the process of European integrations.

akreditivi_stolicePresident Barroso expressed content with the recent meeting of the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, in Brussels and he declared full support to the European integration of Montenegro. He congratulated on the efforts in the state building process, as well as on the reforms that were made after the independence and said that Montenegro is on the right way in terms of European integration. He stated expectations that Montenegro will continue to meet the requirements emerging from the process of accession to the EU in the forthcoming months through the successful cooperation with the EC which is considered a friend and an ally.

They agreed that our application for membership in the EU is being processed on schedule and that the EC will give a fair and objective Avis on short notice.
