During the general debate at the 67th session of the U.N. General Assembly, Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nebojša Kaluđerovic met with Foreign Ministers of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák, Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu, Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, Mauritius Arvin Boolel, and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier.

 

 

In the conversation with Foreign Minister of Slovakia Miroslav Lajčák, the two Ministers agreed that the intensity of contacts at the highest political level is a confirmation of mutual readiness for further enhancement of political dialogue and strengthening of overall relations between Montenegro and Slovakia. Minister Lajčák praised Montenegro's progress in the EU and NATO Integration process, and expressed expectation that the country will continue to fulfil future commitments in this respect. In this context, he conveyed willingness of Slovakia to continue to support the reform process and share its experiences from the negotiating process.

 

 

 

unga19In an open and friendly conversation, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu underlined that Montenegro is a good example of mutual coexistence and multi-ethnic harmony, political stability and progress in the Integration process; and, as such, represents a success story in the Balkans, and a model for other countries of the region. The two Ministers agreed that excellent bilateral relations between Turkey and Montenegro should be further strengthened in the coming period, especially in the field of economic cooperation. They also expressed content with hitherto cooperation under the framework of regional initiatives, thus underlining the growing importance of these initiatives in the context of regional stability.

 

 

 

unga20In the conversation with Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn, the two Ministers discussed further enhancement of bilateral cooperation in different fields. They underlined the importance of bilateral agreements on cooperation between Montenegro and Luxembourg, as well as development projects in the fields of education, forestry, local administration, etc. During the meeting, they also exchanged opinions on the current situation in the region.

 

 

 

At the meetings with Foreign Ministers of aforementioned countries, Minister Kaluđerović informed his counterparts of the preparations for accession negotiations with the EU, activities the country has been implementing under MAP, as well as the current political and economic situation in Montenegro.

 

unga21During the meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs of Mauritius Arvin Boolel, Minister Kaluđerović and Minister Boolel signed the protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations. Ministers underlined that this has provided a basis for future bilateral, as well as multilateral cooperation between the two countries.

 

 

 

 

unga22In the conversation with OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, Minister Kaluđerovic and OSCE Secretary General Zannier expressed content with the hitherto level of cooperation between Montenegro and OSCE. Minister Kaluđerović thanked OSCE for their support to democratic processes in Montenegro. During the meeting, they also exchanged opinions on regional developments and the OSCE role in the strengthening of security and stability in the region.
