Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milan Roćen hosted today the UNDP Resident Ambassador and UN Coordinator in Montenegro Alexander Avanessov.

They discussed cooperation projects between the Government of Montenegro and the UN under the Delivering as One programme and agreed that these are fully in line with the priorities set in meeting the seven key recommendations from the EC Opinion.

They agreed that further implementation of Delivering as One should centre on continuing the projects that produced best results thus far (sustainable development and environmental protection, democratic governance and social inclusion) and projects whose short-term effects will benefit the key areas and the status of society's most vulnerable groups.

Ambassador Avanessov commended the results Government has achieved in implementing the EC recommendations, adding that significant results are visible in virtually all priority areas.

Minister Roćen underscored the activities aimed at solving the issue of displaced persons and cooperation with the government of Kosovo in creating conditions for defining their status in Montenegro and providing support to the persons wishing to return.

They agreed that the UN programmes financing in 2011, which will be adopted on June 24 at the joint Supervisory Committee for implementation of UN programmes in Montenegro, will concentrate on programmes that go hand in hand with Montenegro's EU integration and development, and particularly on the processes of adopting high EU standards and practice.
