Resident Representatives of Montenegro and Ghana to the United Nations in New York, ambassadors Milorad Šćepanović and Ken Kanda, signed on 20 September 2012 the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations at the ambassadorial level between the two countries. Both sides agreed that this step lays ground for the enhancement of relations and the intensification of cooperation bilaterally and multilaterally, and in particular within the UN.
