Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milan Rocen hosted today the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Ambassador to Montenegro, Catherine Knight-Sands with who he discussed European and Euro-Atlantic Integrations of Montenegro and the possibilities for further enhancement of the bilateral cooperation.
Ambassador Knight-Sands informed Minister Rocen that, in accordance with the hitherto progress, the UK Government accepts the European Commission's recommendation for the opening of accession negotiations with Montenegro. She noted that the UK supports the EU Enlargement policy as well as that all Western Balkan countries should be considered on the basis of individual achievements, underlining however that the final decision will depend on the position of all the member states. Minister Rocen thanked Ambassador Knight-Sands for the support which, as he pointed out, in the same time confirms the credibility of the European Union and stimulates the Western Balkan states. On behalf of the UK Foreign Secretary William Hague, Ambassador Knight-Sands handed a letter to Minister Rocen regarding the multilateral cooperation. Interlocutor also discussed issues related to further enhancement of bilateral cooperation between Montenegro and the UK.
