rocen11082011-1Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milan Rocen will hosted today the Delegation of the Parliamentarian caucus of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Christian Social Union (CSU) lead by Mr Peter Beyer.
Mr Beyer said his visit to Montenegro has been good and constructive and underlined he had excellent discussions. Comparing it to his last year's visit, he gladly concluded that substantial progress has been made in Montenegro. Montenegro has adopted many laws and they are being properly implemented, said he. Talking about enlargement, he said that it is crucial to maintain the positive dynamic of the process, especially concerning Montenegro, whose reform efforts enjoy Germany's strong support. This is not a concession, but recognition for achieved results and a stimulus to continue in the same pace, Mr Beyer underlined. As the rapporteur for the Parliamentarian caucus of the CDU and the CSU in Bundestag for Montenegro, he clearly expressed his belief that the German Parliament, and especially CDU and CSU, will reach a positive decision on the Commission's recommendation and give a green light for the accession date.

rocen11082011Minister Roćen underlined that Germany's support is, especially at this moment, of key importance for Montenegro and the region and he reiterated that the opening of the accession negotiations is very important for Montenegro, but also for the region and the EU. We expect to be given a chance to take the European exam; obtaining the negotiation date does not equal enlargement, but an additional integration incentive that will enable the accumulation of the potentials of Montenegrin society in building up the system of good institutions, he concluded.

They agreed to stay in touch and exchange opinions on issues of shared interest, through a more intensive cooperation in various areas.
