Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen participated at the Ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement in Sharm El Sheikh, which was held prior to the 15th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement. Head of Montenegrin Delegation at the Summit will be President Filip Vujanović. The meeting in Sharm el Sheikh, gathered number of foreign ministers of member states, observers and guests, and was dedicated to the issues of peace and development and strengthening of solidarity in facing the current global challenges, especially the world economic crisis. Yesterday evening the Embassy of Montenegro in Berlin organized a reception on the occasion of the 13 of July – the Statehood Day. Around 200 guests, representatives of the Federal Foreign Office, German Bundestag and other state institutions, representatives of German cultural and civil society, numerous representatives of diplomatic cops, members of Montenegrin Diaspora and friends of Montenegro, were present at the reception, organized in the atrium of Deutsche Bank, located at the prominent Berlin boulevard ’’Unter den linden’’, to celebrate the 131st anniversary of Montenegrin statehood and 3rd year of its independence.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Milan Roćen met today with the Secretary General of OSCE Marc Perrin de Brichambaut.

Brichambaut said Montenegro made a significant progress in a very short period of time and underlined the importance of its role as a regional stability factor. Minister Roćen and Brichambaut expressed satisfaction with mutual cooperation, which, as they pointed out, greatly contributed to strengthening Montenegro’s democratic capacities, and efficient implementation of comprehensive reforms in all relevant fields, such as the rule of law, fight against corruption, destruction of surplus arms, and strengthening of the civil sector. They also underlined the important role of ODIHR in securing legal and other preconditions for transparent and democratic elections in Montenegro.

Dear colleague ministers, Distinguished representatives of municipalities, regions and towns, Dear Mr. Biščević, Distinguished representatives of the international organizations, Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to greet you warmly on behalf of Government of Montenegro. Welcome to Herceg Novi, welcome to Montenegro. It is a great pleasure for me that Montenegro is a host of the meeting of the Initiative on cooperation between local communities at border triangle of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia. This is yet another confirmation of excellent good-neighborly relations among our friendly nations and countries characterized by intensive political dialogue and comprehensive bilateral and regional cooperation. It is also a confirmation of progress of each country individually and region as a whole on common European and Euro Atlantic path. I believe it is a great step forward civilization-wise that we have in the meantime advanced to the goals that connect us in spite of unfortunate and tragic events from recent past, which remain forever a warning and historical lesson to present and generations that are to come – so that they would never be repeated again...
