Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Milan Roćen will depart tomorrow to Belgrade where he will attend a Ministerial meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement on 5 and 6 September on the occasion of commemorating half a century of its establishment, on the invitation of the Chairman of the Movement, Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Nabil al-Arabi.


During his stay in Belgrade, Roćen will have a number of bilateral meetings with the attendants.

European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy Štefan Füle also attended the meeting.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration wishes to inform the public that the abducted ship "Polar", with three Montenegrin citizens aboard, Blažo Marković, Nenad Božović and Milotije Bulatović, was released this morning. Namely, the ship, owned by the "Paradise Navigation" Company was abducted on 30 October 2010 by pirates in the waters of Somalia. After more than 10 months of daily contacts between the Embassy of Montenegro in Athens, "Paradise Navigation" and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece, the negotiations are completed successfully.

Montenegro, as an EU membership candidate, joined today the Statement of the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Baroness Catherine Ashton on the EU Action Following the Escalation of Violent Repression in Syria. The statement, among other things, "condemns in the strongest terms the brutal campaign Bashar al-Assad and his regime are waging against their own people." In the Statement "the EU notes the complete loss of Bashar al-Assad's legitimacy in the eyes of the Syrian people and the necessity for him to step aside."

Resident Representatives of Montenegro and Colombia to the United Nations in New York, Ambassadors Milorad Šćepanović and Nestor Osorio, signed on 12 August the Protocol on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between the two countries. Both sides underlined that this step is yet another confirmation of traditionally friendly relations and an additional incentive to the further development of both bilateral and multilateral cooperation, especially within the UN.
