To date, Montenegro has opened 17 Embassies, two General Consulates and 6 missions to International Organizations. In turn 20 Embassies, 1 General Consulate (Croatia) and 1 Trade-Economic Office (Czech Republic) have been opened in Montenegro. Thus far 42 non-resident Ambassadors have been accredited to Montenegro.
Apart from Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, where the interests of Montenegro are represented by Bulgaria, the Republic of Serbia represents interests of Montenegro in the countries where Montenegro does not have diplomatic representation.
According to the law Montenegrin citizenship can be obtained by descent, birth in Montenegro, by acceptance of foreigners and by virtue of international agreements.
For registration of a child born abroad it is necessary to submit a request for registration of the child in the register of births and in the register of citizens of Montenegro. The request should be supported by the following documents: 1. Original birth certificate from abroad
You can address in writing the Department for Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro and ask for mediation of our diplomatic mission in Macedonia in order to obtain the certificate. For these and similar services an administrative fee of 10 € is payable to the Budget of Montenegro.
The stay can be regulated by reporting the stay with the responsible service of the Police Directorate with adequate documentation (marriage certificate, evidence on resolved housing issue).
According to Article 3 of the Law on Employment and Work of Foreigners which is to come into force in 1 January 2009 foreigner can become employed, i.e. work in Montenegro, on condition that he has: a work permit, a permanent residence permit or permit for temporary stay, concluded contract on work, or civil-legal contract that the person obliged to report work has reported the foreign person for work in compliance with the provisions of this law.
In order to transport the remains of a Montenegrin citizen to be buried in Montenegro, it is necessary to obtain a posthumous passport/laissez passer issued by the diplomatic and consular posts of Montenegro.
Yes, subject to formal request for registration of the child into the Birth register and the Register of Montenegrin citizens before the child turns 18. The request is to be filed by the parent who is a Montenegrin citizen.
Providing our diplomatic representations with the pertinent technical equipment is underway in our General Consulate in Frankfurt whilst other missions will be equipped in the forthcoming period to enable the Montenegrin citizens with temporary or permanent residence abroad to obtain passports. Other interested parties can submit a request in their place of birth. |
