Directorate for NATO/PfP has as its main objective the improvement of relations with NATO and the member countries of the Alliance which are in the process of integration. The Directorate is extremely important for maintenance and improvement of the political dialogue between Montenegro and NATO and it is devoted to activities within Partnership for Peace, as well as to the analysis of political, military, economic and other activities of NATO. Initiation of projects proposals and programmes of interest for Montenegro and monitoring of their realization are also activities of the Directorate.

Apart from these affairs, the Directorate for NATO/PfP also performs affairs related to realization of cooperation with other ministries and institutions, especially with the Ministry of Defence, as well as coordination affairs of the Government Commission for Inter-ministerial activites within PfP, together with the Ministry of Defence. Preparation for and participation in negotiations, conferencies and round tables in the area of cooperation with NATO, peparation of materials and informing of the Government on activities of Montenegro in NATO/Partnership for Peace, coordination and cooperation with the Mission of Montenegro to NATO and other affairs are also within the scope of work of the Directorate.
