On 10 May 2010 in Budva, Ministry of Spatial Planning and Environment, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, organised a meeting of ministers of environment titled: “Facing the Challenge of Climate Changes”.

The meeting was opened by the Minister of Spatial Planning and Environment Branimir Gvozdenović. Sixteen delegations from CEI member states participated in the meeting, with Albania and Moldavia represented by their ministers of environment, others by the state secretaries or deputy ministers. High representatives of EU Delegation to Montenegro, UNDP, Secretariat of CEI, Regional Centre for Environment, Montenegrin Agency for Environmental Protection, Hydro-Meteorological Institute and many other institutions also attended the meeting.

The participants exchanged their experiences and best practices on issues related to this increasingly important topic in the domain of environment, and all praised the readiness of the actors involved to engage in a regional approach to this problem. Representatives of the Ministry presented, for the first time, the results of two important documents, which are the outcome of intensive work and cooperation of the Ministry with international institutions and whose results enable clear definition of national priorities in the field of climate change and environmental policy in general. The documents in question are the First National Communication for Climate Change and Study of the Impact of Climate Change on the Sensitive Sectors of Montenegrin Economy.
