There were three guest attendants at the meeting: State Secretary of the Foreign Ministry of Italy, Senator Alfredo Mantica, the European Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Maria Damanaki, and the President of the Marche Region, Gian Mario Spacca, who gave presentations following the working part of the Meeting of National Co-ordinators.

Representatives of the university network UNIADRION and of Commerce of chambers of AII member-states also attended the meeting.

The first meeting of the High Officials' Committee of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative (AII) Member-States under the Montenegrin Chairmanship was held in Podgorica from June 27-28, 2010.

At the meeting, which was opened by the Political Director of the MFA, Ambassador VeskoGarčević, and the State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Alfredo Mantica, the programme and priorities of the one-year Montenegrin Chairmanship of the AII were presented, and the opinions were exchanged on current and planned projects in the Adriatic-Ionian region. Special attention was drawn to the drafting of the Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian Macro-Region, as the key instrument of European integration of the AII member-states who are not members of the EU.

Montenegro is organising the meeting of the Committee of high officials of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative  (AII) Member-States on Monday, June 28, 2010. The meeting will be opened by the political director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro, Vesko Garčević, and the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Italian Republic, Alfredo Mantica. The Agenda and the priorities of the Montenegrin presidency over AII will be presented during the meeting. They will exchange opinions on current events in the Adriatic-Ionian Region and special attention will be drawn to the Drafting of the EU Strategy for the Adriatic-Ionian macro region.
